Question/Comment:

I had been on medications for my blood pressure for twenty years, but none really got it under control. So 3 months ago my doctor switched my to Lisinopril/Hctz. For the first week I had uncontrollable sweating, my skin appeared yellowish, my tongue reaked of the taste of salt, and I felt overheated all the time, barely able to sleep. The second week the side effects decreased some. Now they continue but not so noticeable, and my blood pressure is finally controlled at 120/85. First time ever!

Question/Comment:

Started this one week ago. I have polymyositis and my legs and arms and shoulders are in more pain than before this drug. Is there a problem taking this drug for Lupus Patients with connective tissue disease?

iGuard Answer/Reply:

Lisinopril/HCTZ can cause muscle pain in some patients. It is a rare side effect. If it is affecting your quality of life, you should discuss your symptoms and your concerns with your physician and have him/her conduct a full evaluation to determine the possible causes.

Question/Comment:

An update - on this med for 3 1/2 years now. Blood pressure in kept in check very well. Before and since being diagnosed with HBP my blood work is near perfect - no cholesterol, triglyceride, potassium, etc issues. As time has passed minor side effects (cough, dryness mainly) have gone away.
Only issue now, confirmed through pharmaceutical inquiry is I have gained some weight and find it a bit harder to lose weight.

Question/Comment:

High blood pressure runs in my family; parents and siblings both older and younger. I was the last to get the diagnosis, but i saw the pattern of my pressure creeping higher and higher as i aged.

After one particular week when i was feeling really poorly i visited the doctor and my blood pressure was 150/100 he put me on Lisinopril/HCTZ.

My next visit a month later much it was 110/70. Not one side effect in the 9 months I've been on this medication.

Question/Comment:

I was taking Beta Blockers(Coreg) and another blood pressure pill(Avalide) for my blood pressure. I had taken Triameterene HCT for many years prior and developed an irregular heartbeat. My doctor sent me to a cardiologist to chek the heart beat and he put me on the beta blocker (coreg)and Avalide. My heart rate plummeted and my bllod pressure went up. I changed doctors after the cardilogist would not hear changing the meds after 9 months .. The new doctor changed me to Lebetalol and Lisinopril. My heart rate would still drop to 40"s and 50's. HE took me off the Lebetalol and I only take the Lisinopril. My bllod pressure is lower than it has been for years 110/69 to 123/81 and my energy is back. My heart rate is up to 68 resting and no more than 99 when exercising.
