Global Patient Feedback for Eldepryl (Selegiline) ( Post a comment )
Question/Comment:
Zelpar worked well for me over the last couple of years as part of my Parkinson's arsenal. Recently made the switch to Selegeline based upon no coverage by my health insurance for Zelapar. Advised there was no difference between Zelapar and Selegeline. Zelpar was easy to take via 2 tablets that would dissolve under the tongue every am. With Selegeline, I now take1 tablet two times a day.

Answer/Reply:
The warnings that come with Selegiline tell you to avoid many foods, such as, coffee, spinach, beets, cola, eggplant, some meats, raspberries, and many more. What happens if we do eat some of these foods?

iGuard Answer/Reply:
Eating these foods while taking selegiline may greatly increase your blood pressure. It is best to avoid food containing tyramine and caffeinated drinks when taking selegiline. Some examples of tyramine containing food that are the most important to avoid are: many cheeses, pickled foods, chocolates, certain meats, beer, wine, and alcohol-free or reduced-alcohol beer and wine. Your doctor can give you a complete list of dietary restrictions.
