Question/Comment:

after my accident I went thru the rampit of pain med.s to find which one worked the best for me. the only one that worked 95% of relief was vioxx, when it was taken away the next best thing was celebrex. it helps me to walk and cope with the pain that I am in 24-7 at levels greater than a 10. surgury only made it worse. I would rather take the risk that goes with celebrex than not take it at all. for than I wouldn't be able to move at all.

Question/Comment:

I am a 71 year old male and have taken Celebrex (200MG) for many years for osteoarthritis. When I play golf or do any other strenuous activity, I take tylenol for arhtritis also. However, Tylenol has never worked well on me. My question is there any other pain killer which I could take and it would be more effective than Tylenol? I have not noticed any particular side effects from Celebrex, but take numerous medications for several chronic problems . So, I might not recognize a side effect associated with any specific medication. Celebrex helps my pain but does not get rid of all the pain, Based on what is known, I do not want to take a stronger dose.

iGuard Answer/Reply:

While taking Celebrex, Tylenol is the only over-the-counter pain medication available for you to take. You could talk to your physician about switching from Celebrex to a different nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (the class of medications that Celebrex is in). A different medication in the same class sometimes will work better for some patients.

I AM 41 YEARS OLD AND HAVE RHEUMITIOD AND OSTEOATHRITIS I HAVE BEEN ON CELEBREX FOR 6 YEARS. IT DOES NOT TAKE ALL THE PAIN AWAY BUT WITHOUT IT I CAN BARELY WALK. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS TAKING CELEBREX SO I WILL CONTINUE TAKING IT.

Question/Comment:

What can I take when i get a headache with Celebrex? I noticed it says most pain relievers increase the bleeding risks.

30 year old Female – Source: iGuard United States

iGuard Answer/Reply:

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is generally your safest alternative in terms of avoiding bleeding risks and drug interactions. If you do not have other underlying medical conditions this could be the best choice for you. A typical dose is 325 to 650 mg every 4 to 6 hours until relief. You should typically stay well under 4000mg daily total per day. If your headaches persist you should seek medical advice in order to determine the cause.
