Question/Comment:
I became sick in 2006, with positional vertigo, it would be several months later when I discovered that I was also suffering with "migraine related vertigo". Yes I got headaches, but they weren't terrible. My migraine symptoms were different. I fell alot, was very dizzy (eyes open or closed), I was a really bad passenger in a car, and busy stores were even difficult to walk through. I take topamax to keep my migraines under control and I'm careful not to eat the foods that trigger migraines.

Question/Comment:
I am 75 yr old female and have had migraines since age 13. Thank God for Imitrex. It interupts a headache for me in 20 to 30 minutes. The 3 day headaches return within 18 to 24 hours but another imitrex does away for another time frame. The Dr is now giving meTopamax to try to alieve the severity of waking with the pain. It has helped somewhat. I stll get them but not waking up with full blown headaches. I do find some side effects which I do not know if connected to the meds. I have occassional swelling of my feet and my finger pads and sometimes toes go numb. I don't know if it's connected to the Meds .

Question/Comment:
I went to a neurologist for migraines, mostly because 3 times in the last 7 years I "fall" for no reason. They ruled out high blood pressure and heart issues, and apparently ruled out seizures as well. They think the migraines cause the falls. The neurologist said I have Basilar migraines (and enlarged cerebellum tonsils). I only get about one a month, but he wants to put me on Divalproez, which has way too many bad side effects for my taste. Does anyone have any experience with this drug?

iGuard Answer/Reply:
Divalproex has been around for many years and is indicated for migraine prevention. Many patients tolerate it well. The "falls" are dangerous to you, and the neurologist will be monitoring you on this drug. It is important to discuss the benefits (hopefully less falls and migraines) versus the risks of the medication (the side effects) with your physician.

Question/Comment:
What about Treximate? I have been having migraines since I was 10 am now 50 and still none of these remedies or solutions work. I have cut out everything bad in my diet, lost lots of weight, and I still suffer monthly. I wish mine only lasted for days, try weeks on end. I have had this one now for a little over three weeks and am barely able to check e-mails let alone work. I am up to trying any new options.

Question/Comment:
I was in a bad car accident and hit my head, two weeks later I had my first migraine and they went on for years. I went on almost every medication they make and finally only found relief with maxalt. Imitrex never worked for me. They tried to get me to take topamax daily but I hate taking something everyday and the though of an anti-seizure medication scared me. Finally I went to a chiropractor and have had some relief. I used to get migraines every two weeks for two days, now I get about 3-5 a year!
